Geneva, the city of
internationalism and integration
This kind of courtesy is traditional in the Calvinist city - where foreigners account for more than 40% of the population. Since the foundation of the International Committee of the Red Cross nearly 150 years ago, Geneva has made a name for itself globally as a city of peace and skill in the fields of integration and assimilation.
Approx. 200 international governmental and non-governmental organisations are based in Geneva., for example the office of the United Nations Organization (UNO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Trade Organizations (WTO), the International Standard Organization (ISO), the International Telecommunications Union (UIT) and UNICEF.
A continuous process of renewal based on free exchange of opinion, intellectual tolerance and an active perception of ever-changing influences accompanies one of the world's largest and most important conference and congress cities as a matter of course.
