Geneva, quality of life
at the heart of Europe
Canton Geneva is an enclave surrounded by France, by the Département Haute-Savoie to the south and the Département Ain to the north. Its boundaries are 107.5 km long; 103 km of these border on France, but only a mere 4.5 km border on Switzerland. Geneva is connected to Switzerland by a strip of land along the shores of Lake Geneva linking it to Canton Waadt.
There is no doubt that outstanding work can be done in a climate of mutual tolerance, in an environment with short (transport) routes and concentrated, high-quality infrastructures. However, quality of life, motivation and productivity are not defined solely by the conditions at the workplace, by income or social advantages.
The approximately 450,000 inhabitants of the region have always known how to create pleasant living conditions for themselves. With its lake, its parks and its protected situation in a landscape dominated by Mont Blanc, Geneva well deserves its reputation as a green city.
The leisure activities available are practically unlimited and fulfil all requirements. As a rule, it is only necessary to travel a short distance to take part in almost all summer and winter sports - and an internationally renowned cultural scene with its own symphony orchestra, opera, theatres, museums, galleries and major auction houses can be found practically on the doorstep.
